Who We Are
At Double Gun Safaris, we are a family deeply rooted in the tradition and passion of African hunting.
Located in the scenic expanse of the Northern Cape, our family-owned property stretches across 18,000 acres of diverse landscapes, from the lush banks of the Orange River extending over 25 kilometres, to the rugged beauty of the African bush.
Our specialty and passion lie in buffalo hunting with double rifles at close range, offering an intimate and thrilling experience that connects our clients with the wild heart of Africa.
Meet the team
Our team comprises dedicated members of the Herholdt family and professional hunters, each bringing their unique expertise and love for hunting to ensure an unforgettable experience for every guest.
Mynhard Herholdt
Mynhard has been hunting since the age of six and began hunting professionally in 1995. He has hunted extensively in South Africa and has also pursued game in Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, and Tanzania. His greatest passion is stalking buffalo at close range with double rifles and teaching young people to hunt. He is also the owner of the Northern Cape Professional Hunting School.
Kotie Herholdt
Kotie has been hunting since he was five years old and began to hunt professionally in 2018. He is an instructor at the Northern Cape Professional Hunting School and is responsible for the hunting operations on the farm. He also serves as the main Professional Hunter (PH). His passion, like that of the family tradition, is buffalo hunting with double rifles at close range.
Edwin Carney
Edwin has been hunting from a young age and started his professional hunting career in 2022. That same year, he also began focusing on photography and videography, becoming our main cameraman. He is an instructor at the Northern Cape Professional Hunting School, where he shares his skills and passion for the outdoors with others.
Pieter Gaybba
Pieter has been hunting professionally since 2018 and joined the Northern Cape Professional Hunting School in 2016 as a lecturer for the Basic Mechanical Course and the Off-Road Driving Course. His experience and expertise contribute significantly to the school’s curriculum, preparing students for the challenges of professional hunting and outdoor adventures.
